What is my evolving working definition of a tensor? The connection was made in my mind by an article about DTI in brain imaging and Roger Penrose lecture on Twistors. Google and a friend helped me do it. Thanks to both.

Trust me, quantum consciousness and my brain incident are leading me on this quasi-magical path. The sound track - Suite Judy Blue Eyes (CSN). Traveling the neural tracts of a brain I am very familiar with - the only one.

I get feedback that my writing has "holes" in it - so to speak. Fortunately, I have the comment recorded so I can study it more carefully. Knowing some more about brain structure "feels" like it is a good approach (DTI brain imaging).

American Music

Listening to Jimmy Page talk about sound technology over the decades is something that deeply resonates with yours truly.

Even though I am still struggling to get my Oticon hearing instruments to get them working the way I know they can, I listened to Led Zeppelin on Apple Music with my studio monitors and the hearing aids.

Looking forward to getting the adjustments right, big time. The weak link is the programing for the Alta 2s. The technology is awesome, as my lifetime of background in sound machines attest. They know it and so do I. The solution is coming because we are motivated, competent and have our hearts is the right place.

Listening to Won't Get Fooled Again, Magic Bus, Pinball Wizard etc. (Who!) on Apple Music as I continue to write this.

I read an article suggesting I should listen to music in response to my brain injury - Seeing the Brain's Broken Cables in DiscoverMagazine.com It helps my write (after). I sent it to Jude.

Do Tell

Absent from posting to the log lately. Here is my story, and I am sticking’ to it.

What a hearing adventure I have been on. It started in April and it is now nearing the end of August.

Hammering and banging for weeks as we reside the house (Hibbard Studio). Last Saturday was the Hill family re-union in Portlandia, we met at the Studio. Then we went to McMenamin's Cornelius Pass Roadhouse where it was smokey from the wild fires to the east but was a hearing and culinary delight otherwise.

But the streamer to my hearing instrumens is still not working correctly. More evidence of a conspiracy which I passed along to Oticon Transactional Excellence Manager in New Jersey. She is working on a solution.

Hopeful.

Main Questions

Show a block diagram of how the chain of elements of signal processing work in the Alta-2 hearing instruments for Program 1 and Program 2 (named "Music"). Also show streamer input.

Verify that compression ratio for each frequency band is adjustable.

White Paper on Alta Core is fascinating.

No progress, again. Maybe someone is right.  I am being stonewalled.

Hibbard Viewing Room

Tried a trial subscription to HBO Now. I was pushed over the top to subscribing because of Birdman. This academy award winner for best picture deserves a lot of study by this armchair filmmaker.

Thanks to HBO’s new service, I can watch to my hearts content on my devices, iPhone and iMac (with attached studio monitors for outrageous sound). Iñárritu wrote and directed the film. Only after watching it several times, I am starting to grok the story and how it was told by the Mexican director.

Frankly, the film deserves all the awards it has gotten.

Listening Instrument System

Watching the Oticon software through my new reading glasses made the session with Jessica at Hearing Solutions go really well. I could see the key screen she was using to adjust my hearing instruments.

Next week, I am anticipating even more progress as an Oticon employee will join us.

Folks from Oticon told Jessica that program 2 was based on program 1. This makes sense - there is only one spectral response and ajustable compression ratio for each frequency in it.

I would like to see the page with the parameters on it.  Even better - play with it at home.
