She told me it was the devil’s music, Stones - Sympathy for the Devil. Being clueless and on the radio I wondered why she listened and called in.

Be, Neil Diamond from the sound track of Seagull (Bach) reminds me of her. She loved Diamond's music and wanted me to play it for Portland.

Daughter of a preacher man and tall. Wearing hi-heels, taller than I was. Inviting voice on the phone and an intellectual delight.

Sad that she has passed away.

Request Line

The mid-seventies, I worked the evening shift spinning records on the radio in Portland. For many years, the request line was a big part of my dysfunctional social life.

Let me explain:

There were several record suggestion lines coming into the radio station. "Working" them became high art -- of a type. A few were foxes, most - not so much. Volume got the numbers up.

The length of a song to make one's off-air pitch. Yes, the prime directive - different time, earlier technology - but same as it ever was.

Nation/States as Pawns. Private  game. Who is playing. Not so anoymous as they were. But there is, of course, deep deception as part of the mix. Great story in the making. Like CITIZENFOUR.

Private organization(s) operating surreptitiously 'under' the front of government. Think Evergreen, Blackwater, Booz, Raytheon, SAIC etc. Most have a presence in DC. Though they are known in the public record, many of their deep secrets are not. Think: "The Company" - John Erlichman.

Inside My Head

Testing iMovie record on the MacBook Pro for my continuing conversation with sister Jude on neuroscience and my stroke. I will let it run while we talk with FaceTime on our iMacs - she in Seattle, yours truly from the Hibbard studio in Portland.

Sunday, the 20th of December, video chat scheduled at 1:00. Downloaded the full version of Call Recorder for FaceTime.  Tried it by calling Brad yesterday.

Street Lamp

Generally speaking, perspective (the visual kind) requires light. Things observed are more probable when the relevant view is well lit.

Verifiable facts are not in question until they change. One has to be aware of the change.

A Bayes like inference mechanism is how the induction of prediction works in cognition.

Wavelength

Harmonic relationship is but one code of many. Just above the baseband are a myriad of 'fundamental' wavelengths providing subtle insight to posterior change at the lowest frequencies.

On Not To Dream - Bayes

Editing film on super 8. Tools were primitive by today’s standards. So the 'universe" of possibilities contain both.

TV revolution in education. Not so much as smarter interactive internet now.

The network effects of life are beyond what can be achieved human artifacts to date. Experience is not current.

Trained experience in gaining knowledge is a key component. Or so I "dreamed" the night before. Subsystems vying for waking attention in daly awakening, methinks.

The local components of this definition of Mind are of communicating persons, however intentional, subtle, profound etc. their interaction is. As in other data models, the master link list is composed of verifiable person aliases.

"We the people ..." with less friction at the interface (between human and machine assistance.

Analysts are all of high integrity because of immutable checks and balances. Such systems will be always dynamic to better serve the current and future needs of the population.
