Uniting citizens for their mutual benefit is a sound concept. The name of a supreme court case is not the same thing. Nor is the goal of a given corporate entity not explicitly constrained by its founding documents.
Co-opting our feelings about common words and phrases has so distorted their value that genuine damage has occurred. The primary instigators are now experiencing a backlash and resources continue to be wasted on distractions that need not to have happened.

The silver lining is that some of our seemingly intractable problems will fade as the selfish are forced to face the consequences of their short-sighted behavior. Corruption does not make a lot of sense. Allowing it is to choose inferiority.
