She is smarter than he would like to admit. Smarter than him at the promise in exchange for cash game. He, humiliated, acted out. Claiming the best of intentions and implicitly competent more than a bit beyond what was justified.

Welcome to a growing club. Perhaps with some considerable distance from a half century ago, history provides perspective. Turbulent times born of a war, assassinations.

She has not been afraid to visit the log. Its not the only thing we might learn from her. That, however, does not mean that other's experience of persuasion's double edged sword wouldn't help her navigate unchartered waters. Preferably, sans isolated ego.
