Documented petty theft distanced the perception of complicity for a company peripherally involved while simultaneously and indirectly building a case for exploitation. An initiation ritual or something more sinister? Perhaps, traumatic bonding?
As the numbers of participants expand, the truths specific to the instance start to dominate. Reality vs. perception over time. Shared perception is simply closer to reality. Two but not two. As mathematicians might say, the distribution, in its entirety, is between the two poles.
