Breakdown

Secret Private Co. Files
“Consider this in a more extreme case. What if weaponized drones were used domestically? The excuse sounding something like, 'A palpable terrorist threat was neutralized today when a predator drone struck a terrorist hideout in Kansas.'
“You might argue that making military technology available to domestic law enforcement is a far cry from this example. But what if there was little, if any, public oversight of a transaction between a particular US jurisdiction’s police department and a private transnational contractor/supplier to the military?”

When government intelligence is at the beck and call of private contractors immune to historically effective checks and balances, bad things can happen to most constituents. The observed symptoms suggest this is what is happening. The ratio may be 99 to 1 or something entirely different. The pattern is unmistakable, regardless.

Not So Stranger?

"He seemed a bit weird. Like an ex-con who likes to 'mess with you'.  Reasonably intelligent but eager to use it to provoke a confrontation. Quickly moving from a friendly verbal joust to violent threats. The trigger, being 'outgunned' in a game of disguised deception.

"The cell phone videos documented what transpired just after the inside incident. Audio only of the switch to threats of violence from the friendly, though odd interchange, valuable for later analysis, one suspects."

"I didn't follow."

It is not that we should laugh at the other's misery. But a special kind of humor does have a way of bringing out compassionate action. That is once the situation has been secured.

One might reasonably ask, is the person in question capable of plotting irrational violence? Is she/he likely to? Is there a pattern evident that is worth sharing?

"How many folks fitting this profile are at that location?"

Critical Mass

"I have no intention of letting the moment pass. A story will be told of this time and these people. In the scheme of things, it may not be such a big deal. But that will not be for lack of trying, for it moved me.
The heavy Republican emphasis on Keystone XL begs the question,
“What is the Koch exposure to its recent speculation on energy markets?”

"Stories of this magnitude likely occur from time to time to most of us. How much effort should be undertaken to share a given story and with whom? We may get to this later."

"As it was experienced, an unremarkable time globally. In retrospect, it may have been that distant events of all sizes were just that - distant, perceptually. Made small by an expansive idea planted in a small company town by the river.

"Statistical validity was the topic of discussion, implications for a catastrophic mass-deception the context."

Visualize Strategic

Probability Based Alignment
These are actually out of focus dots. The process of connecting them before focus is achieved is the very nature of strategic communications.  Difficult at first. Once practiced, much easier to repeat on multiple otherwise disparate instances. Over time, a quantum leap in cognitive efficiency results.

Robust persistence then becomes a somewhat trivial extension. The recorded information is in a collection of overlapping fields rather than locations, naturally dispersed. The emergent redundancy is low cost.

"Some limits that could have been ignored before are very significant now. Rather than scrambling to recover from a barrier collision, it is far better to anticipate and avoid it. The best time to act is when perception is first driven by emotion."

"Is that the case now?"

"We don't have sufficient data to make that call. We do know what to look for though."

Behind Closed Doors

"If this is to be believed, it seems some enterprising nerds got together to see if they could provide services to the transnationals' hidden covert operations. Multiple clients meant they could price accordingly. They did not make the rules so who could fault them for harvesting the free enterprise opportunity?

There is more than one.
"Avoiding the scrutiny of nation-states, even the US, had become almost routine. The exploding ambitions of the supreme pirates (their clients), a much different story.

"They did not realize in the beginning what a risk they were taking and that the client market had developed into feuding over territory of epic proportions.

...

"The breakthrough occurred when the implicit agreement amongst the secret private operations was compromised by the infighting. Each knew the risk of a breach in secrecy but were so consumed with the internal competition, lost sight of its primal importance."

We Train

"We are drawing them out, as expected. Causing apathy, anger, fear and afflictive emotion in general were effective for our competition up until the point that we, as the clear majority, had little else to lose.

Koch, Iran, Eisenhower?
Now that trust and dialog amongst  friends is recovering and assisted through social and technology innovations their tactics are failing quickly."

It is easier to see why strategic communications (as herein defined) is the team's chosen methodology. It means a vetted framework is in place to scale the mission exponentially over time. Conversations are more durable than transactions are more durable than messages. Sustained, the robust interactions propagate productive memes.

Patience Threshold

"So just how patient should we be?"

"Clearly, that threshold is driven by the content. We are left to trust the dynamic mechanism that measures it. And, happily, that has been working very well.

"For instance, today we have achieved a milestone. The quantity of raw material has reached a psychological threshold. The quantity 'N' is 1,000. Counterpoints can be considered relative to empirical data that has a definable structure."

When one organizes, it matters a great deal just what the nature of its object is. If its object is well understood, a schema is readily produced. In the absence of such familiarity a challenge is presented. And too, potential.

The best stuff is usually somewhat mysterious. Aspects of people can sometimes fit into static categories. But opportunity often resides outside the static and predictable. Humans are the most effective change agents the world has ever known. They are capable of independent thought and action under the right circumstances.

Node = Person, period.
"Conversation worker - a person, working-from-home who facilitates productive conversations by tutoring newcomers on best practices. At the retail level the compensation is in the middle class range.

All (including top management) enter at this level. This is a friendly technology intensive opportunity to provide a sustainable self-sufficient model that motivates its employees to provide the highest possible customer value.

"Building atop the authentic personal identity platform so as to circumvent ego-driven but counterproductive predation. Lady bug rather than 'Big Oil', if you will.

"Cutting edge, cost-effective learning methods employed from day one."

Cover of Night

Some of what we do is conducted at night to avoid untimely scrutiny. The disclosure mechanism defaults to making the same message available to friends and foes simultaneously. As a result, secrecy vulnerabilities are virtually eliminated.

No interest in Keystone XL?
The only way to differentiate a message, transaction or conversation based on degree of friendliness is carefully choosing the content of the initial message and/or the time it is transmitted.

Hattiesburg is a good example. With insufficient data, we cannot be sure what, if any, significance it poses. Using the techniques described is a way to detect intention without unduly jeopardizing parties at either end.

Integrity

"There was a time when I could hear everything and listened very little.

See?
"Now that my hearing is on the decline, I have noticed a sharp increase in my listening capacity. Is it age? Probably deeper than that.

"If the data is recorded faithfully, listening can catch up. Though it may takes years or even decades."

Optimized for experience capture, a human's hearing mechanism (ears, real-time categorization etc.) does not guarantee a level of meaning commensurate with the pristine acquisition. The architecture, unassisted, does not support it.

"So seeing the Oscar winner again two decades later, I could not hear all the dialog. But I understood the context. It is not that much of a conceptual leap to assume the meaning had been percolating over the intervening years, below the level of conscious awareness."

When shame is relegated to appropriate tagging of experience (rather than a tool for obedience to predators), the mind has an opportunity to thrive, even if the real-time sensors have degraded with the march of time.

Camp Runamucka

"No doubt about it, we were cutting edge. Imagine family camping in a new '56 Cadillac. You have to understand, this was in the days when full size cars were the size of small oil-tankers.

"The standard issue jargon for these adventures was 'roughing it'. We had all the fun of war with no casualties. Imagine hazing sans consequences. Shaming was not just allowed but encouraged to handle 'hazzee' uprisings or the potential thereof.

"There is us and there is them. Taking from them means more for us.

"Don't tell anybody."

More than half-century ago. Cadillac camping, that is. If 'Turn a Blind Eye' wasn't bringing the world economy to a halt now, it would be funny or at least nostalgic. Maybe not.

Life in Progress

"Let me see if I understand.

"Interaction with the content occurs before the product is finished.  In a sense, material is never complete, forever dynamic. The production values, on the other hand, are of a quality reminiscent of traditional four color books and, unlike print publishing, highly interactive.

But the content is being updated in real time, Wikepedia on steroids where the subject is in the process of being defined, refined and generally changed for the better as time passes.

"Content creation is a process wholly dependent on communication. Removing the constraints to interactive sharing makes the content better. Dramatically so.

"Read only media cannot, in and of itself, interact with its reader. Dynamic content is not just an incremental change to a timeless distributor of static knowledge.  Only those elements deserving of changeless status will remain so using self-adapting conversational technology."

Memoir

"Twenty five years ago, he left for the coast to write his memoirs. But it took decades to clean up the mess on the library floor (its a metaphor, Prudence.) Frankly, had the technology not improved dramatically in that period, the effort would have been futile ... until now.

A meme worth preserving.
"She was an inspiration for a number of reasons. Short and highly creative, no doubt. Patient, nurturing, moody? Yes those too."

Dragged kicking and screaming to the beach a little closer to the truth? Something in between, more likely. Being scared of one's own shadow is a difficult case.

Retrospectively, one sheds the constraints of gravity and time (is that redundant?) Perspectives are angles from the singularity. Many, many angles and more than one consistent enough to call truth.

A mind for which I have a high regard theorizes there is but one singularity. From my point of view, it is a highly useful perspective on a number of levels. Thank you, Jon.

They, A Whole Different Meaning

"A conscious bridge across time designed and built by a subconscious leader in the soup?"

"Seems fairly incredible, does it not?"

"Indeed. But I was also taken aback, though not surprised in retrospect, about mind/plant symbiosis.

"That famous closing line 'on the wings of intention' comes to mind. To think I felt some measure of shame because I could not recall details of stories I had read. Thought it was just insult to injury that I not only read slow but seemingly retained little.

Clearly I was mistaken, about the misplaced shame, that is.

"Frame of reference describes an arbitrary temporal boundary, nothing more. An unfortunate consequence of conscious awareness (at least so far), absurd motive assumptions."

Who decides?

Day of Beauty

An old white guy. As a kid in a racily homogenous mill-town, did not understand. Did care though. It is where kids start, I suspect.

Surely, compassion is instinctive. Somewhere between dependence and agent though, instinct can be subordinated to will. If to reason, volition amplifies beauty. If to obedience, something less (sometimes far less.)

I wish to share your dream. For it has meaning far beyond injustice, inequity and the like. As other great minds have articulated too, it speaks to the miracle of our existence.

Misfit Prodigy

Sentients arrogantly constrained.

"The study of implicit communications. Especially the kind less or not understood by conscious awareness. The misnomer "disorder" is often applied to outliers with high productive potential.

"Negligence is particularly cruel when such opportunity is suppressed. It is much easier to grasp injustice when someone gets stupid drunk and abuses their own child than when we as a society adopt deplorable practices as a result of our collective jealousy?"

The editing history of each log entry contains identifying information. It authenticates its author to some degree. This aspect of authenticity gets more interesting as we move on to other communication modalities.  Ego, as herein defined, is understandably threatened by the fluid nature of message preparation.

That is unless there is a fusing with other parties to the dialog as a integral part of the conversation. Creativity thrives in such environments. Management becomes an object to the process rather than its subject. Some call it collaboration.

Screen Play

"I live in a town with a director of that caliber."

"You live in a town with producers of that caliber."

"Meaning what then, ace?"

"People do not want to hear it from somebody they know. Who likes the 'know it all' in the gang?

"Imagination would not be in such high demand unless it were illegal."

Dancing just outside plausibility is a sort of fertilizer. Disarmed by laughter, one can reach past motes of fear. Though 'truth suppression' is the subject, humor is more effective than whining for illumination.

"Its medicinal. Trust me."
"On its surface, it seems a reasonable activity. Folks proud of their 'education' and so forth opine that the unwashed majority are not bright enough to see the world belongs to the well-funded truth suppressors and then head to the golf course."

"Complex recursions are fraught with risk."

"And often - after some time passes - very funny."

Alias

"If disrupting the cultivation of deception is war, then I guess you can call it that.  Seems a bit harsh, though."

When speaking of self-interest, the scope of 'self' is particularly salient. Some would vehemently argue that self means 'me' and angrily ask what do I mean by such a question.

It will come as no surprise to regular readers, I generally try to ignore those folk. You see, many a nefarious sub-objective is accomplished riding the coattails of doomsday fear. Not all are blind to such tactics.

Further, I would argue, a critical mass of influential folks are already engaged and putting to work authenticity network effects.

To your health, iPhone.

With the right probe plugged into the appropriate port on an iPhone and a free or very inexpensive app, you can do professional pulse oximetry at extremely low cost. Private health-care predator permitting, of course.

The many advantages of having such a powerful miniature computer that communicates with the rest of the world should be evident. Uploading personal medical data (via cell data, wi-fi etc.) is just one of them.

It should be noted that the trend to a universal mobile processing platform (a smartphone like the iPhone) is threatening to expensive dedicated medical device companies who now dominate technology development in the medical field.

Of Model and Its Enemy

Rushbo?
"Disruptor factor. That which intentionally disrupts the efficacy of a computational model.

Our intent is to calibrate the impact of such activity to gain a better understanding of how to mitigate the damage caused. Its about real-time adaptation to anticipated risk of disruption. Open systems have the capacity to lower vulnerability by overwhelming the nefarious agenda with a volume of adaptive individuals that are tightly coupled.

"No questions asked, loyalty, obedience and the like are ineffective in the face of the empowered and well-intentioned. The working title is KOOL (spelling is correct, it is not an acronym) reflecting the intent to deceive and its natural reaction.

Organic in this context is simply the highly evolved organizational principles of living entities. Deception has very limited application in a highly competitive intellectual environment. One example, the cuttlefish. It disguises itself so as to not be visible to predators. A very intelligent invertebrate that eats its own.

Conversely, as a defensive strategy for the dominant it can be useful, at least temporarily.

"''Far from equilibrium' empowers the complementary field. Anticipating such is a large part of team's mission. Accordingly, we will compile an enumeration of model sabotage disruption tactics.

"It is particularly interesting to note that a deceptive meme, 'the other side does it' uses a cloaking tactic that forces researchers to implicitly endorse model disruption. To access the agenda, one must register. In the process, disclosing an email address to be spammed and passed along to other selected spammers."

"This one will be 'off the radar', so to speak."

When addressing the machine, they learned that later direct view of the log led many to lose track.

That oft (and perhaps overused) phrase accomplished something important in the current context. The distinct change in key or rhythm was intentional, not inadvertent. At least, far more often than the reverse.

Until the machine caught up, making the transition, to and from, explicit would help live listeners follow along.

"We need better visual feedback. Watching aural recognition as it is happening and later watching the background sorting, pruning, enhancing etc."

"In short, 'watching' aural input and processing cognition?"

"Yes."

Sounds of Silence

"What I am seeing on the monitor now suggests a high correlation between authenticity patterns throughout the brain and one particular optional behavior that is quite universal amongst human sentients."

Foggy this morning, but I can 'see'.

Her quick description of the visual abstraction resonated immediately with all present as if she had just articulated what they were thinking. From the time the presentation appeared and for a protracted period afterwards, you could hear a pin drop.

Recalling a time in his youth when popular music virtually orchestrated his REM experiences, the connections reinforced. Setting the clock radio to come on before he ever intended to wake up, he discovered that programming the mind was particularly easy just before he awoke. The motivation was his fascination with morning radio production and the good times he associated with that 'sound'.

Stories drive imagination, like aural information they are presented in serial form. Sequencing snippets of duration is an important aspect of the art. While one can tell our story 'as it happened' in a single chronological stream, it is not necessarily optimal. In fact, jumping around in a timeline mimics how recollection for a human often works.

When deception, obfuscation, misdirection and the like are intended, injected misinformation can deliberately disrupt the orderly sequence of 'chapters'. When music reflects this intent it is awkward, unpleasant, dissonant, disturbing etc. 'Management', put to music, revealing.

When we spend our time talking with each other about what we have in common rather than arguing with megaphone carrying minions about whose lies should prevail, things get better.

"Here is a list of launch points to get a flavor of what is available to counter the messaging of the Deception Machine."

"If we carefully resist the impatience temptation, the volume of players will offset saturated broadcast propaganda. It will work this time because we have inexpensive authentic conversation amplifiers in the form of technology-assisted social networks."

If one were to target just a single geographical center to best serve the interests of a more balanced international society, where would that be? Why?

Listening Prerequisite

"My hearing concerns me. I like to hear. Hearing aids and audiologists are too expensive from my point of view. Am I naive?"

Less cumbersome?
"Maybe, a quick way to find out is to see a recommended audiologist and bounce your ideas off her/him."

While it did not surprise anyone, all were intrigued by how vivid this latest example was. The specifications were followed to a 'T'. Big ears is what we have been calling cutting edge listening in general. This audio example proved an instance while also affirming the generic principle.

When most of the noise is man-made and intentionally disruptive a certain strategy can be employed to mitigate the interference.

Bi-directional Echo

"Deep in the echo, you will discover much. Even more when the receiver responds and only thru her/his echo will you be able to decode mutual meaning.

A conversation through this medium is even better. Later conversations being much more productive than the first is a distinct opportunity."

Clicking this hyperlink will initiate a demonstration of medium modulated conversation (as described later). The third party to the conversation is the most important, in some respects as we will soon see. But only if users of the network benefit.

Interim Summary

"I learn by first detecting then paraphrasing transmitted value.

Strategic Communication
"So many of the principles the team has attempted to articulate can be summed up in a few paragraphs from time to time. Perhaps now is one of those moments.

"This is not the first time change has been in the air. Far from it. But we can clearly see what is new about it. The expanded power of the individual has been fueled by what one author calls, "The graduate with no future." This downturn in the functioning of society includes a lot of folks capable of understanding why. This time, people are armed with skills and unprecedented technology to communicate widely their dissatisfaction with the arbitrarily enforced rules. You are likely reading this on a screen. When else in history could such a statement have been true?

War, dictatorships, oligarchs, plutocrats have many historical precedents as do the dismal conditions of society that result from their rise. But never before have we had the tools and the masses able to put them to work on this ancient cycle. Expect rapid change.

Operation Deep Frame

Worth recovering.

"Signals of the acknowledgment pattern have been received and entered in the log without comment. Accordingly, I suspect we may precede with the next phase of Operation Deep Frame. Comments?"

The 'nation's interest' is the working handle. Would it be sufficient to carry the project into beta testing? Saber rattling in the usual place suggested that the team be particularly vigilant with regard to perception decoys. The Deception Machine's newly discovered weakness, inability to deal with a critical mass of 'fronts'.

Targets for organized deception have a necessarily narrow angle of acceptance. Chain emails are an example. They rely heavily on quick distribution sans vetting. When ignored, they just become part of the background noise.

I won't say it often, because it is generally true of this log, underlined text is almost always hyperlinked text. Click it.

Not Etched In Stone

A life fully lived is never static, even after it is finished. True today as it was a half-century ago.

The explosion of creativity we are experiencing has actually been the result of thousands of years of preparation it seems. The discipline for a few to actually visualize what appears now to have been inevitable was extraordinary by any human measure.

Sure, the dedication had its baggage. But given the result, I am sure not inclined to criticize. You?

In any case, the mission of those fortunate enough to have received the wisdom in its primitive form has been set. It is simply the wisest possible pursuit. Compassion has the capacity to safely regulate its growing application.

Spirit Lake

A harmonica's plaintive cry more than three decades hence.

She is starting over. Violence like mother nature had never shown before to the second born from a rock and roll mill town family of six (maybe more). At the intersection of the Cowlitz and mighty Columbia if you must know.

Few radio signals made it there. One that did (after sunset) played the music of my parents youth. The rich sound emanated from a rather large box whose back glowed like the campfire light. Magical at the lodge on the shore of the Alpine lake.

Not much. That satisfies the species of our type. We have each other and what little we need is as easy to gather as it is to breathe if we do it together. Such was the appeal of the place not to distant from home in summer and early fall.

A working class hero escapes just long enough to plant the seed of … another working class hero. No, I won't hear of it anymore unless the other lines are sung. And so they just might. Stay tuned. Imagine if you will, the soundtrack is Cohen, Lennon, Young, Cash and more.

So dense no-one can possibly follow the story arch without letting go, perhaps after repetition and a lot. The right producer will understand. Its their job.

That gender confuses me too. But less so now. Volcanic and gentle. And on a cycle. Go figure. So when can we publish? If you don't think we already are, expect a big disappointment. Like the cycle of life, it best never finish. Screenplay without end. To consider this a start is a choice, thanks for joining.

Seeking Transform

"From this direction, its beautiful."
"... maybe, but it is highly informed. You suggest it is wishful and I, to some extent, agree. The data suggests to me that the functionality already exists. I am guessing, it is not finished and we would benefit from its completion.

"Ambitions are often borne in part of concepts not yet available to our conscious awareness."

Designing the experiment that makes sense of the breakthrough data takes time. Trying to communicate a shared intuition challenges the very notion of sharing concepts when tools for the medium are inadequate. We muddle along somehow and continue to surprise ourselves.

"We better hurry up before the professor arrives and corrects our semantic errors on what he thinks we mean."

She grinned. They both appreciated his input but found his language correctness rigor stifling at times like these. "As if the famous constant is a baseline rather than a limit?"
