Soup Pattern

"Many paths through the same patch all resolving, in varying harmonically related durations.

"Probably a better way to say it, I just didn't want to lose the thought."

"Its a different symphony depending on where you sit." She pointed at the spots she had recently occupied in reverse order.

"I can scare too, Kitty!"
Though the rules were fairly simple, the pattern game like other enduring games evolved to something far beyond what was anticipated. The interplay of perspectives guaranteed far more possibilities for each participant than could be exhausted over the sum of their many lifetimes.

"Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow."

Tolerate

"My experience has been that creative people are more tolerant of management than the other way around. And it is not because creatives have a monopoly on wisdom."

"He said that?"

"No. I did."

And Brad, says "Co-Optics". Insight or Oops? No matter. It his copyright, Prudence. Get over it.

"We don't yet know it all. Not by a long shot. Some of you will be interested in just what a life dedicated to love looks like. This view moved at least one mightily."

Reliable Trust

'Good guys' converged in the house they had occupied. Because of the productive rapport, efforts to infiltrate were very difficult.

Infiltrators were and are behaviorally conspicuous. Conversations are more revealing than orders and unquestioning loyalty.

"Its an authentic conversation. We are learning rapidly how measuring this quality benefits the mission." His comment was highlighted by the fact the expected rain waited for the event to end as if Mother nature had thought to herself, "I will hold off watering the plants so that I have a clear view of the festivities."

As if on cue, the rain started just as the adoring crowd had finally left. I suspect she smiled.

Long transmission times (broadcasting and traditional publishing being the most vivid of the worst cases) means little or no feedback to make up for communications entropy. The practical implication of Claude Shannon's work (often called information theory) was to discover a simple scientific way of understanding errors, quantitatively as messages are transmitted and exchanged.

"To my knowledge, there is no scientific theory of corruption especially as it applies to communication. Did I miss something?"

Halloween and weather forecast begged, "Rain."

Precious Momentum

Our Land
"Whistle blowing is sometimes a very important tool at the foundation of accountability.  The good corporations (yes, there are some) have provided us with camera phones and conversational networks that have empowered the masses to blow the whistle on the use of force to protect the oppressive from the consequences of their selfish action."

The Nightly News won't show us and we are beginning to understand why. Did you see one of the energy industry's commercials? Or perhaps look at the often-hidden ownership of media outlets?

When the free flow of information is compromised, for any reason, imbalances in ensue. Dictators and plutocrats have an interest in disrupting communications available to the masses. The choke points in the media infrastructure at their disposal are disappearing. It is scaring them and, in some cases, deposing them.

The revolution is being televised, this time by the people. It is changing the world rapidly.  Substantial reason to rejoice for those victimized by the unjust disparity in the distribution of common wealth.

Land of Free Speech

"Keep the following in mind for tomorrow's event. Though we have spent time looking at off-the-shelf tools for remote origination, the noon gathering will give us our first trial of the concept.

"Specifically, the coverage will be unique in that it will occur outside and downtown. The weather forecasted, rainy and cool."

Pink Martini
The new hardware had just arrived. Too make sure it would be ready for the test, help from the manufacturer was sought by traveling to its closest retail outlet.

Then the suspicious activity began, centered once again around logins.

"It would explain a lot if we have detected an exploited vulnerability."

"Alerting the cloud now. Quite a story if true. Of course, it could be another decoy. 'For Steve (Jobs)' does have a nice wring to it. Serendipity or dedication to excellence?"

Google Giggle

A little less creativity, boys.
"This script is at least ten years old. Kitty and Boo. Just my imagination, runnin' way with me."

Experience with a personal story of pathology is much different than an empirical study of said pathology, is it not? The personal story in this case was a clear example of punctuated equilibrium.

'You think to much. Take this, one a day. You will be less of a distraction to the not-sick."

"Don't you mean, obedient?"

"Excuse me, my boss is on the phone." He winks as he looks at the cell's screen and walks away."

Meanwhile, a peaceful gathering down the street ...

Self-Employ

"Making better content is something almost anyone can do given the resources now available. Compensating those responsible for improving or creating useful content can no longer be based on expensive degrees or the classroom model alone. Moving toward an economy that rewards ANYONE who makes life better is wise. Learning is key, education that is not subordinated to it needs to be changed.

Persona, Management, Authenticity

Confidential?
"Yes, I am arguing that secrecy can be, and often is, a part of a well-managed, authentic persona. The most obvious application being appropriate privacy.

"You see the issue is whether or not the content is true to the singular person with which it is associated. The spectrum from true to false in this dimension is wisely independent of the public-private spectrum.

"When an authentic persona transcends death two things can be said. 'So what?' and 'Authenticity is more easily verified.' This insight is particularly useful in understanding what constitutes reality in an artifact borne proxy for personal identity."

Like discussing the mechanism's of humor this conversation was necessarily tedious. They had done things like it enough before to keep it short while preserving its impact.

Essence of Compassion

"FriendlyIdentity.

"Doing a global search on the two components essentially turned up nothing. It seems odd. I am guessing there is a lot of high value content yet to emerge.

"In an expected and somewhat prescient daze, it was saying hype would only work so long before it came crashing down. Often taking with it all the careful plans to lock in the gains and hide them away from the coming tumult. One sacrifices the value of prediction for oneself by sabotaging it for others."

A short definition for authentic in the identity context is woefully inadequate. Therefore, the demands on a useful dynamic abstraction are very high. The lazy need not apply.

Who's In Charge?

"Yes, follow the money. But why? In this case to find the clients. Transnational private entities being perhaps the most interesting."

"Secrecy is a dangerous game. The need to know may be a secret. Who then is accountable and to whom? One gets the sense of chasing one's own tail."

Open and inclusive, clearly a game changer. The market meets the critical mass test - namely, a large enough revenue base to profitably grow in the face of competition and a resistant status-quo.

The log does not go out of its way to attribute portions of content to individual entities. It is left to the reader to sort out which behavior pattern belongs to which group or groups. Made easier by considering a given comment in the entire context. 'Tire kickers nearly always lose interest quickly. Too much work required."

"From the design perspective then, the architecture hinges on a fundamental approach to trust. The framework is a combination of harvesting from existing technology and systems with applicable functionality and the emergent implications for efficient compassion."

Conspiracy Theory

Another dictator falls. A peaceful demonstration begins. It spreads around the world. Can we keep the fire alive this time? It will sure be fun trying.

Business plan as lucid dream.
Call me crazy. I am guessing it is possible. When someone says 'there will always be greed' does she/he mean that the world will be better with less or more? Perhaps, neither. But it does seem desirable - that less greed would help and deserves our support.

Broken?

When asked about when the medical/industrial bubble would burst he said, as I recall, "It already has." Those in the room knew he had/has credible background in the field.

Is the economic model for developing safe and effective health solutions in the US broken? Many have drawn the same conclusion as the evidence in this log suggests. One of the key questions we could ask ourselves is whether or not the funding and academic institutions are directing their strengths optimally.

"We can continue to ask how modifying the steering design might fix the flat tire. We could convene experts in the steering and tire fields. I, for one, am not terribly confident that such an effort would bring about the desired outcome, fixing the flat."

In a closed system, blank checks do have strings attached. Many economic models not-calibrated for corruption are likely to mislead. Is it possible to do so? Is there a science of corruption?

Epitaph

Done too soon.
Flame out or pass while asleep. Neither all that attractive unless your approach to the barrier is at full speed and properly reverent to those left behind.

We all go there but the direct approach is best. He explained it like few, if any, could.

We do, I suspect. So working on the definition of 'we' in this context seems wise?

Paradigm Leap

"Who turned the lights on? Its no fun when they can see what we are doing.  Where is people's sense of tradition and blind loyalty?"

Funny way to spell, 'Koch".
"What do you mean, I think too much?"

Both claim to mean well. For the long term, one mode is likely to prevail. Not much room for deception or willful ignorance there. Global interactive will rule the day.

99 is the new number one. Ten minds are no match for 990 minds when certain minimal resources are supplied.  We are fortunate to live in a time when such is the case.

Journey to We

A Sunday morning in middle October. Sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean. Two pretty girls. It does not get much better than this, he thought.

The landing was rough. Wireless failed unexpectedly on the approach. Disconnected? It felt that way then. But as the sun rose this morning, he knew better. Much better.

The ocean's edge where the reception is best. Yes, the radio too sometimes. A couple of sage messages seem apropos, 'put it in the top drawer' and the other I just forgot (or is buried in said drawer.)

The airwaves brought a  lot of smelly junk onto nature's porch. But there are gems too. One has to but look. Really look.

Tuning is the skill. For that we came.

Field Trip

"If our plan comes together, we will be meeting at the beach outpost this weekend."

Production values inspired by radio is the central theme. Though the medium has been clearly broadcast oriented, radio was early to the concept of interactive.

Production values in the context of robust global interactive are as new as it gets, especially with regard to the masses. A driver of this improvement is not just expensively educated experts and very deep pockets. The qualification for participation is as simple as having something worthy of communications.

In its prime, broadcast was a revolution because it brought information to a mass audience for the first time. The limitations of the technology made it one way only, outward from a central source. The telephone had already been in wide use but was just one-to-one.

Along its now century long history, radio and phone were combined in a sort of 'mash up' to compete with yet another technology, broadcast television.

Newer technologies are in wide use today. Global connectivity and robust interactivity are becoming the norm. And history hints at how they may be much more significant than just a collection of new features. By virtue of where we once have been ...

Who's Free Speech?

There was a time when discrimination was the law. Most now consider that to have been wrong. How was it that it changed? Civil disobedience played a big roll in correcting the injustice.

Those who benefited before the change were likely to have resisted such. Often they discover that after the change their life became better even though they did not want it to occur.

History is replete with instances of tectonic social change related to civil disobedience in the pursuit of justice.

"That is not worthy of civil disobedience."

"Are you sure?"

"The boss told me so."

"But it is not your boss's choice."

Supporting the 1% is not the same as being a part of it. $340 million/year salary is the threshold. The idea that your deposits are the bank's money is just not true. If bank management risked the depositor's money for their benefit, they should be replaced ASAP.

The Dawn

"For over a year, this log has documented the imminent net renaissance of the human spirit. If you are late to the party, know that there is plenty of joy left to share."

There is a difference within the 1%. A big difference. Some are kind. Others are not. Promote the kind. They will make the kind of change we have not seen for quite some time. It will take sustained diligence to roll-back the Deception Machine takeover of our society.

Consider the key elements of the less than kind opposition: Distortion, transnational exploitation, fraud, hypocrisy, sabotage … As we are beginning to see, none of these elements are required to sustainably prosper, even to a world-class scale.

We are still at the beginning. But as the ancient wisdom so succinctly states, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step."

The methods of the compassionate mob have a not-necessarily expected common theme, optimal suspect sensitivity.

Sustainable?

The buying experience was informative. To see so many people and so much space dedicated to showing a great product - and so few customers - brought home just how out of kilter our economic delivery system is at this moment in time.

Compare those who are delivering real value now to those who were making money before the perception bubble burst.

Now imagine what it is like to share using the best communication artifacts at our disposal to re-balance society. The entrepreneurial opportunity is jaw dropping.

Wealth disparity and robust interactive communication have collided in a movement the significance of which has not been seen in a century. Furthermore, it is on global stage.

I asked my friends around the globe whom I have yet to meet in person. Think about that statement and the fact that it can be spoken by a large portion of the world's population.

The Hearing Processor

A mobile device hearing processor app. Imagine using a mobile smart device (iPhone, Droid etc.) as a platform for a user friendly but highly sophisticated adjustable hearing aid.

The UI provided so that parameters like parametric equalization and dynamics processing can intuitively be adjusted based on the listening environment. Adjusting is heard by the user in real time.

Touching the screen with the thumbs could alter a frequency spectrum based on the area covered rather than a dragging operation making the adjustment more like a graphic equalizer (though actual filters are parametric to avoid peaking artifacts.)

One or more bluetooth lapel microphones can optionally be used instead of the internal mike to do a better job of isolating the listened-to person(s) from the ambient noise.

Because the basic functions are software-only, the base price can be quite low. The processing power of the iPhone is more than adequate for elaborate processing of the received audio signal.

Technology has uses in recording interviews and conferences as well. In such cases, an iPad or other tablet device may be more appropriate.

"As a very wise sound guy pointed out, ear buds or other in/on ear device would be best (wired or wireless) for the aided listener."

Deeper Calibration

"Get used to the idea that self-calibrating protocols cannot remain static. Externals are in a constant state of reactive flux. Further, those in control are rapidly improving their stealth capability.

"A reasonable argument can be made that an update is urgently required. It does not require particularly acute awareness to note just how internally vulnerable our systems appear."

Though, as the log showed, they had been discussing the possibility for months perhaps more than a year, recent security breaches were suggesting the issue had become the critical path, even for the internal counter-infiltration program.

Ember

The most memorable time at Camp Meriwether was around the campfire after the sun had set. Like the warmth of the burning embers, our imaginations were on fire.

Obedience serves immature egos. It is the enemy of the new and better. Unquestioning loyalty has a very short useful life.

At the evening gathering, the 'order keepers' were nearly silent and as a result the previously subdued community came alive. The seeds of progress were planted then, even if it took many decades for them to reach frutition.

The real leaders knew, it was that for which we had come.

The Prototype.

As I recall it was a book, a collection of essays suggesting the trajectory of the mind-machine age. One of those essays talked of transferring the essence of a human to something man made.

With the passing of the person who was widely recognized as the spiritual leader of humankind's ability to create in its own image (call it God, Buddha nature, human spirit or gadgets, it matters not.) we reflect. Has the first great prototype actually already been built?

Seems so. Am I dreaming?

Authentic Personal Location

"All the report was saying is that particular device was there, not necessarily its owner. One explanation is that the device was at the reported location, in a car perhaps."

"An argument for biometric personal id in another context if the intent was to discover the location of a person.'

"A positive register, in that case, would indicate that the person and device were in the same location. The device would verify that its operator was using it at the time of locating."

The tightening grip of authenticity, while making the well-meaning's life better, is putting a lot of pressure on those relying on deception. The vigor of the resistance is indicative of how much wealth is being wasted on the selfish. History has shown the old guard (that relies on deceptive messaging) will not go lightly.

"And before we forget it, what if a SIM card is transferred to a different phone temporarily? It would be worthwhile to study the specification to discover how to make it a part of personal authenticity."

Transnational Plausible Deniability

"White Collar Crime Prosecution Solution is at least descriptive. We have tested the concept a bit and have already seen one countervailing strategy."

"What is that?"

"Clever use of robotic deception on the net. Let me show you a vivid example. Do a Google search on 'contains major inaccuracies'. The instructions sound benign. The results? Anything but. A highly revered search engine with the first hit going directly to the interests of just a handful of very powerful and secretive people."

All who out of man-made fear turn off modern technology inadvertently vigorously support manipulative deception. Conversely, intelligent mobs use their numbers and communications gadgets to dramatically amplify the push back to the Deception Machine. This in spite of the commercial or other compromise of selective information OUTLETS.

"Pass information in trusted conversational media to a handful of friends. Encourage them to do the same. Robotic deception reaction accelerated by collective technology-assisted will.

Sometimes the best way to learn is to stop being 'educated'.

Legacy Done Right

There are just a handful of human beings that are in the class of the individual who has just passed. This post will take all the time necessary to reflect the sincerity of that statement by this author.

When the light dropped off the radar I thought about what it mean to me.

The answer to your question, yes it did. It did mean a lot to me. But it meant a lot to a multitude. I will forever treasure my private dialog with this spirit. I will not waste the reader's time to describe the details. But know that it will serve to inspire my best on behalf of sentients from this moment forward.

Expression of Heart

"Maybe, just maybe, it is perceived as a mysterious and dangerous movement.

"If you think I was trouble then ..."
"Think of the implications to its competitors in various 'markets'. Entrenched vendors could view it as a threat to their revenue model. Belief systems threatened by attacks on their exclusion dogma. And so forth.

"A common historical problem, threats to the status quo and its beneficiaries by new entrants. Also a cognition issue, if sufficiently novel - pushed to higher cortical levels that must be available for interpreting, real time sorting and rapid indexing."

Efforts at selling deep concepts to spoiled parties is usually futile. For the few equipped and motivated to go deep, provide handles so that time is not wasted on those who would rather be pursuing a different agenda."

Nefarious Conflation

"It is a simple concept really. Investing in China does not create American jobs. Giveaways to predatory owners is made worse when no such thing was intended in the first place. Manipulation of perception has been turned into one of our most ugly industries.

"Language as deception should be discouraged. It is inefficient, bad for business in general and bad for the public."

"Entrepreneurial rewards for small business risk is unsustainable. Small business, with few exceptions, do not grow jobs. It is why they are called small. All company's begin small. The ones that grow significant numbers of jobs (and themselves) over time are entrepreneurial, they create something new that is valued by more and more customers.

"Small businesses as job creators is the same foolish notion as rich people are job creators. Neither class is incentivized to create jobs. Keeping labor costs low provides a larger return on investment.

"Cost effective delivery to a new and rapidly growing market - that is job creation. If Occupy Wall Street and its derivatives use their smart mob technology to create effective competition to the selfish few - the economy will grow as injustice fades. We need not wait for Egyptians (and others) to show us how.

"Ask yourself who is behind the distortion of our language and why they do it. Wait to hold them directly accountable. Attempting further conversation with those who chose not to hear is less than wise."

What is that sound?

"You may have wondered what an echo looks like. Here is an example."

With a large enough budget and decades of experience it is downright amazing how much public perception can be molded, even in the days of instant global interactive communications.

Like state secrets, any advantage is fleeting, though. Shared intelligence is nearly impossible to control even for relatively short periods.

Their arrangement in such circumstances amounted to a redundant buddy system. Putting this much at risk was part of the job description. And frankly, she was the right buddy company.

With reduced external stimulus the imagination, especially a cultivated one, has a rich opportunity to discover meaning from the flood of data recorded when "the eyes were open."

One can easily step outside the blinds of denial, even one's own. Seeing the supporting structure of concepts and their similarity to each other. Absent the task of real-time sorting, the constraints of various filters can be considered and evaluated for efficacy and side effects.

Robust dialog without historical parallel suggests a another new horizon. The storm brought abrupt change ... like before. Different each time, bringing a trove of potential insight. Nimble navigation trumps hazard obsession nearly always.
