The efficacy of the technology was trumped by the act of revenue fraud? Cooking the books.

Consider one of the most salient facts. No customer was using the product because, when shipped, it did not work correctly. Shipped, but not working as advertised.

Why would this mistake be made? The circumstances, definitely intentional. But would this have been the invention's demise?

Why would someone making a living off the company put in place obstacles to the only product's performance? A conflicting overriding agenda, perhaps.
