Where I Was Recently

http://www.cambridgebrainsciences.com
My first thought on the visual-spatial sketchpad test, Spatial Scan was prediction over-think or maybe anticipation. On further wandering, mis-memorizing longer sequences and/or non sequential patterns was the cause.

Too early to tell, but a mini-adventure exploring the highly modified space behind my eyes is looking interesting with the application's web site (see link above).

My teenage daughter scores outliers out the on right tail of the population distribution on several of tests she have taken so far.

Me, not so much - not even close. Mostly the left tail.

So-to-speak

I wrote a sentence quickly for a Facebook post and left out the verb, 'teach'. It tried to be funny in the mistake and got "deeper into the weeds" so-to-speak.

What did the speech therapist call it? Was it "verbal apraxia".

A cure for talking too much? Could I have been guilty of that? Seems a bit harsh - a stroke. But this does bring a point of interest in my habits of hearing.

Plasticity

Speech Language Pathologist - no idea of what that meant until now. No reason to. The speech center is truly fascinating -- especially from inside out.

Communications through spoken and written word takes an extraordinary coordination below the level of consciousness. Not a surprise, such is the largely hidden complexity of the human mind.

Conversations

Speech, though improving, is far from that before the stroke.

Ambitions for writing seem far away - a few sentences barely poor out out me. I notice the difference, spelling is better, there are fewer wrong words but adding 's' to words.

Engaging conversations on which I wrote frequently have been put on hold. Finding a substitute for that joy in the intermin will need addressing.

Already, they are ideas coming to my mind.

Driving Again?

Driving again would be a worthy goal - six to eight months of additional time may be required. The physical well being is coming along nicely. But experts are saying that building cognitive speed apparently happens more slowly.

Tests today to access my response time were to slow. It reminded of my improving but sluggish reading ability since the brain damage due to the stroke.

Joint Incentive

Yes, you will encounter mistakes of various kinds, especially since the stroke. I'll make comments brief, unless I am just practicing on myself (the brain makes new but it is a complex task recovering and will take time I am told).

http://guardianlv.com/2013/09/new-iphone-sells-9-million-despite-security-fears/

With regard to previous recent posts on person, my view is a mobile device (such the shown Phone 5s) may be pivatol part of the breakthrough to 'us and them'. It provides in security in depth to both parties at near ideal place, the person. Your fingerprint not is only thing that identifies you to EACH side.

What else identifies its mobile owner for each application will be an evolving process. From least risky toward higher value exchanges as the appropriate systems mature.

Apple's iCloud advantage is low-cost merchandise (such as music) to experiment on initially - Amazon, Facebook too. A temporary breach would be relatively harmless until such time as a solution can be found.

From this perspective, Apple and maybe Facebook seem to have an inside track. What if something entirely different make sense?

Person-Centric

Authentic communication is a software/networking/personal play as much anything.

Biometrics and various kinds of identification are not today's answer anymore. In in integrated solution, they are a part, though.

"Coupling transparent behavior measures, such a mobile device location and owner ID over time, provide a cost-effective means to secure the product of human interaction". It is has been said so many ways before, it hardly bears repeating. I propose the salient point is an integrated person centric system (mobile device, client software, network etc.).

I am iPhone user and can imagine the iCloud, plus "missing modules" for the person-centric whole. I would be surprised that Apple designers/engineers are hard at work on the problem. Google with their Android and massive network is another candidate. Facebook too, of course.

From my corner of the universe, there may be a missing piece or two ...

Person, Before and Since

There are two main thrusts to the 'Person' story as mentioned in this log, the one before August 1st and one after.

The new story is very important to me in ways am I just beginning to understand. Communicating again is a big part of it. Something I have taken as a given, is difficult but ultimately rewarding work.

What can I say? It is much more personal. I am not alone in this quest. Stroke of aphasic kind does happen to other people too.

The 'Person' log thread overlays my personal story since August because I left "brain tracks" recently here on the subject such as this post.

Bigger Than That

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/20/al-franken-iphone-fingerprint_n_3961852.html

Please excuse the stumbling of my writing (see September 4 post).

How does one identify oneself in a growing super-computer in your pocket mobile world? A dear friend recommended a Hufffington Post article to me. In it Senator Al Franken in a letter to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple brings up the "elephant in room" in the potential misuse Touch ID in the recently released 5S iPhone, fingerprint biometric and counterfeit identification.

There is much more to the evolving bigger story, I believe. Before August, I began an exploration into what elements are missing in the story. As readers may have noticed, I think it is better than it appears.

'New' Me

Seeds abound and fade away almost as quickly nowadays.

I want to write as quickly as before. Post aphasic stroke, that is likely a dream. More likely a 'new' person (me) developed over a period of time writing my thoughts. My word, the not necessary theirs.

Some words are coming faster the before. It seems high priority meaning has something to do the increase. There is synergistic a relationship between clarified thought and with ease the I write about it.

Subjects Past, Were Again.

Pre-stroke, I had wandered in technological and scientific fields. I found them fascinating having a inventor mind set. Seven weeks after that life-changing experience, some small amout of the material engages me.

People I have known may have peeked my newfound interest again. Tree-like structures that have long limbs, persons one has known. Maybe, long connections in the brain that lead somewhere for brain 'wreck'.

['inventor' rather than wrong word 'investor']

Stroked

Time was once, so I remembered. Certain memories are often about when they occurred, though. Stroked recently, I wondered. I dear friend recommended Fierce Grace, so I watched. Perhaps this was my comment.

Ram Dass first book, Be Here Now implies the special, maybe the only, time? I meant 'now' rather historical time.

Journey

Hearing with some the clarity but reading at times difficult. Writing and speaking are most trying. Spelling, wrong word being written, wrong sequence (sometimes dyslexia) and so forth trouble my writing. Motor planning, part of the right face around the the mouth area being numb and hearing are among my speaking impediments.

'A rocky road up' the seems to best to describe the effort.

Dark Side

"Imagination grows in a sometimes unhealthy direction. She and I get caught up in that? At least I do - as decades of vivid memory serves.

"Destructive imagination, in this sense, subtracts from the whole."

It does not much sense over time.

Where Are Blueprints?

Wrote a paragraph for the first time since my stroke. It appeared as if by magic. I was surprised, it was spontaneous. Lends credence to notion that connection is what the brain wants to do. No longer large a abstract in longer my head. Experience, plain and simple.

Life is Change

The BuzzTheHill author (me) had an aphasia stroke, August 1st, 2013. Can't write ... yet.
