Jurisdiction

Hard working?

"Let's bring the coal export industry and fracking to NW Oregon and watch the economy grow? People are stupid so lets ignore them. Cash is more important. There is no such thing as too much money as long as the Fed does not print more and more defenseless folks are left to step on.

"Jumping from one to the other avoids regulatory nuisances. By the time a response can be mounted, the natural resources are already owned by private interests not troubled with humane integrity. Boom towns soon become bust towns for a reason. A variation on scorched earth. A truth learned too late is nearly moot."

The cynicism permeated the room for just a while. Part of the immersion process to engage the 'soup'. Jarring to the first timer, to be sure, but a crucial component.

"This perch has eyes, even ears, elsewhere but it is not like being somewhere else. Still, the Bakken territory seems inhospitable to what a coast local normally thinks of as comfort. To subsidize unearned profit for a few seems counter-intuitive. Am I missing something?"
