But why?
"Should we just accept corruption because it has been around so long? Seems particularly convenient for exploiters if we view it that way.

"An in-depth study, appropriately disclosed, seems in order.

"Subjects like 'above the law wealthy' likely contain instructive nuance. In an age of electronic connectivity, control often belongs to those intimately familiar with high frequency transaction methods.

Take our example. Clearly the corruption threshold is context dependent and may even vary with the distance from the center. If, say, a county, one value applies - changing to a national scope could dramatically alter it.

Fear of relevant information is a red flag in most people's opinion.

"A reasonable hope for classic check and balance methods is high performance parallelism? In other words, the coherent connectivity of very large community may be the the future successful offset of speed advantage exploitation."

Faces of Identity

Socialized Medicine Over The Decades

"Beware the patterns of destructors. They melt like witches from the light."

As if he knew that the claimed identity of the text was authentic, he took a self-serving path in his reply. A low risk approach if the agitator could only be deterred. No such 'luck' in a narrow context.

But zoomed out - different.

Authentic singular identity rather than convenient personas designed for predatorily priced privacy. Not everyone needs to know everything about the person. Who decides what is revealed? The key to the new technology being pioneered by the big three. Get to know them and watch what appears to be magic begin.

Big Oil

"Law in an energy boom town is quite different than in more established places. Yet with the right economic conditions, the law of the wild west is easily exported because it generates so much cash. Checks and balances are subordinated to sustaining huge cash flow.

"At the receiving end, It comes at a heavy price to the settled but unprepared communities it disrupts. Further, that could explain the entourage and the disregard for customary norms a thousand miles away."

This one more difficult than most posts to decode. Successful invasions seem to have an element of surprise. Lightning war or Blitzkrieg had that element. In the soup or on the net the wake assumes a characteristic angle. Depending on the viscosity of the medium?

To dense? Move on and come back. Those in the thick of the action are tracking to some degree (both figuratively and literally). Surprises abound.

"A common refrain from the usual suspects, "There will always be corruption, roll with it."

"What if the wheels are not round anymore from the casualties of this dubious advice?"

"Once again, the time has come for another acknowledgement that has provided the foundation of this now years-long quest. It seems the pushback could not be more personal. Am I wrong?"

"Signature legislation undeterred by the opposition's full-court press. Even the doctors may wake up this time around.", there was that knowing smile in her voice.

All His Fault

"How risky would increasing the sensitive disclosure flow be?"

"What happened in recent case of government leaks? Perhaps that could be one guide. Remember her words, 'Lets not escalate, just let go. I did.'", her peculiar pronunciation of the verb and the implication that there was a credible counter to their attempt that night, remained vivid in his mind.

"We have lost all contact with her.", the urgency in their voices, palpable. The implicit threats had been ongoing for months. The classic gas lighting tactic applied.

The connection to the hidden criminal operation supporting the quasi-legal political activity, exposed to dawn's first light. Nocturnal creatures scrambling for protection from the visible radiation. Multiple jurisdictions cooperating beyond what is prescribed in 'the book'?

Many scramble for the attention of those in service to citizens in times of economic blight. How does one prioritize? Hopefully not by what can be funded alone, legitimately or not.

Predatory Humor (haha)

"You might think of that person as an unintended audience. One of the hazards of solitary creativity under the influence."

"Uh oh." she thought, time for yet another story. "How could he do this to me? That monster!"

Believing one's own hype is hard work. When it makes money it is called method acting. Otherwise, foolish?

"If everybody is laughing, it is not predatory."

"If not?"

The Competiton

"Sparks will fly when the files merge?"

"Not necessarily. Several folks are holding back certain disclosures that have to be sequenced carefully. 'The Competition' requires the extraordinary focus of just the two marquee players during the contest. Meanwhile the pit crew, while still crucial, remains largely hidden from the judges."

Om Mani Padme Hum is peaceful, not passive, or so it would seem as practiced now. You see, the show is merely incidental. Orchestrated change requires the meticulous engagement of many.

Second Moon

"Code Name: Luna Architecture. Sentinel with the heart of a lion, a perspective.
"Danger so close you can sense it from the inside. Bred to sense it, in fact. Almost a century ago the family gathered around the radio. Now family can extend to thousands of miles with amazing real-time intimacy. Who new what would happen when? Guided imagination, at times, lit the way."

"The pattern of 'mistakes' repeats. A common theme, counterfeit electronic identity. Satisfied with screen shots for the sake of necessary archival speed. Some related things require slow transitions, though. Further, others constrained to forward only flow. Alias-who musical chairs takes specialized skills."

"Ground forces taught to be on message, 'We know, you don't'. What will you tell us out of fear?"

"The fourth. An ER trip. Mostly drama? Patterns of electrons carry the cipher key. What was abducted, not who? Real identities tangle, substantial, in any case. Why such sophistication? Beach connection ... again. Know not why."

"Another decoy launched. They say, 'Not if we do it there.' providing yet another clue."

"DNA like decode in the artificially emergent soup. Hiding from the light. Privacy backfire. Speculative fiction mocked. Diversionary tactic by now too obvious."

"'Paradise' connection. Another repeating pattern. Best this one ends."

The system monitor at this point in time only shows the most abstract level and a snapshot at that of the underlying network it is tracking. It is still largely a machine assist prototype.

Took the Fall

"Fascinating history really."

"So, what is the Chamber of Congress connection?"

"The seminal event appears to have occurred on or around April 22. Chamber connection is just reasonable suspicion based on hearsay. We have a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to the same place. Some of it quite strong."

"Discovering one or more motives will be helpful ... This one is the best so far ...", she pointed to the document.

One of the most interesting aspects of this unfolding case is the propensity of certain players to take credit for developing relevant leads. In that process, obscuring facts that would have been more easily acquired if the actual source were known to those seeking equitable resolution of the matter.

"It sounds like it could be interpreted as fraud unless a timely recant takes place. Am I wrong?"

Their 'white board' discussion continued. Flexible analysis is informed by recognition of patterns. Engaging structural memory through representative visual stimulus can work wonders. Who and when are often at the top of such analysis.

"As time goes by, more deceptions make the recant option less viable. Its pattern is common to cover-ups like this one."

The Month After

"Five K gone in a matter of seconds - thousands follow. Many diversionary rabbit trails. 'My way, Ronstadt style', she in effect stated. Game of a timeless genre and this time with unprecedented connections."

"The first of the last two months?", he interrupted.

"Yes. There's more", she continued. "Old world media now dominated by owners of the two major types, but in precipitous decline. Big Oil stewardship dismal, evidence nearly everywhere. Well-meaning privacy protections bacbackfire. Pattern of deceptions exploit same."

"A topology involving threads of change. Heavy responsibility dropped. Plutocracy reacts accordingly. More scalable theory, this time formal. Medium for interaction. Old crumbling, making way for the new. The laugh that lights the way."

Versions of truth?

"As we are discovering sweetheart, 'versions' of the truth carry a lot of useless baggage.

"The true story (rather than its people) travels to the middle of the Pacific. Not all that far from Kansas, Toto. Trust me."

Or, as heard often in these parts: 'Tell the truth, there is less to remember.'

It is the nature of mind. To surf the subtle tide is a mindful act, not escape. The true Self is outside far more than in. At least that is a very useful perception according to a smiling, widely known, humble person dressed in red and yellow.

"Why would he ask if we would go there, now?"

"Why not?"

The Game

"Of course its a dream. Being choppered in to a place so pristine. Almost completely devoid of human ego-driven … stuff. Senses still acute enough to appreciate the splendor and a mind functioning at what feels like the top of its game. The helicopter is to compensate for the drive train's decline. Would actually prefer to levitate in if that were possible (on the wings of intention)."

Hard working?

"Let's bring the coal export industry and fracking to NW Oregon and watch the economy grow? People are stupid so lets ignore them. Cash is more important. There is no such thing as too much money as long as the Fed does not print more and more defenseless folks are left to step on.

"Jumping from one to the other avoids regulatory nuisances. By the time a response can be mounted, the natural resources are already owned by private interests not troubled with humane integrity. Boom towns soon become bust towns for a reason. A variation on scorched earth. A truth learned too late is nearly moot."

The cynicism permeated the room for just a while. Part of the immersion process to engage the 'soup'. Jarring to the first timer, to be sure, but a crucial component.

"This perch has eyes, even ears, elsewhere but it is not like being somewhere else. Still, the Bakken territory seems inhospitable to what a coast local normally thinks of as comfort. To subsidize unearned profit for a few seems counter-intuitive. Am I missing something?"

Bully Antidote

"The SIM card shuffle is less effective for the competition now. It actually helps to identify the hi-tech tactics they have deployed and, in the process, suggest effective countermeasures."

"It is probably accurate to say they are still in a commanding lead. But we appear to be catching up, fast. Having said that, it is not clear yet just how much ground we have to make up."

Certain accountability mechanisms are far more effective than others. The question is, which ones?

"Multiple biometric apps are coming to a phone near you. The smart vendor(s) will make them free as a strategic play. I might be wrong."

... a fool believes.

"Big Oil does not answer to anybody but themselves."

"That's a bit of a reach." The comment could be accurate, but less credible because it is also a stock 'conspiracy theory' obfuscation. The other and probably more common, 'I don't know what you are talking about." is of the same flavor.

"Remember a now famous pair of brothers from Wichita were once regarded as hard-working innocents by some and not known at all by most. And that was just months ago. Maybe network news is not telling us what we need to know to survive?"

Not lost on those paying attention, this is a very high stakes competition. A sleepy research project has turned into a gripping tale if intrigue and violence. The mysterious dark James has reappeared. It could be coincidence ...

"If you don't declare that teenage person a runaway, we will be upset."

"Because. That's all. Just because."

Told, in effect, he should continue to subsidize the misuse of resources earmarked for growth, he asked, "Why?"

A concerted effort to change the subject ensued. Too many questions outside the prescribed frame. One might reasonably ask, 'Who is in charge?" If that is the question, the likely answer is 'to be determined."

"We must stay on message otherwise those who feel entitled to control will be inconvenienced."

Waiting Is

"How much might a reliable unique link between user and personnel wireless device have made in the scenario being discussed?

"By reliably authenticating the user to the network as who she/he is claiming to be, certain exploits are detected and/or prevented. Passwords and credentials have proven to be insufficient for the desired utility. 'Conveniently authentic' seems a worthy and attainable goal."

"Identity Tether?"

To prepare for 'grok' often requires the invocation of 'waiting is".  He wondered, is this another of those times?

"Yes, a lot is happening fast. Some are calm. Others, not so much. The calamity has forced a lot into the open. A rich spectrum of human emotion.

Bench Warrant
"I would like claiming it was by design. Being honest though, it was based on a hunch that competent goodwill would be productive rather than an abundance of analysis.

"Knowing deeply some of the personalities involved, increases the odds of a positive outcome. But the unknown factor is almost impossible to accurately quantify. Once again, patterns are key."

So when one dares to use the term, it often is like a curse. The four star general says, wait until morning. Things will look better. History is kinder to those who do not deny its downturns, but learn instead from them.

Corner Turned

"Chatter suggests 'camera rolling' is having the desired effect."

"Things are not yet quite as they appear but are decidedly better. Stay tuned."

Their exchange had the familiar rhythm of strategic dialog. Designed to insulate the interchange from real-time connotation distortions. Heavily used handles have a propensity to be co-opted.

The value of documents with date stamps has been known for a long time. But it has never been this convenient to redundantly capture for 'many eyes'.

The downward trend in crimes involving deception is likely to continue because many more are able to watch at historically low cost. While friendly neighbors is a very old behavioral paradigm, it has been subtly but powerfully advanced by recent technology developments (networking, wireless etc.)

"Shocking denial, no doubt. But only in isolation. Considered in its sea of deception context, it may be telling us something quite important about where things stand."

"Who knows what? How much will come out? The lights are on so the chaos and exploitation are less likely. Not everything need be disclosed, only enough to get the job done."

Suspicion. When you believe in things you don't understand ... Opinion culture is the noxious weed that is undermining our quest for a more universal and robust happiness?

Desperate attempts at 'gaslighting' are signals that welcome change may be imminent.

North of Renton ...

"Under different circumstances, we could have been friends. And still could be, once certain matters are resolved. But those remaining are hardly trivial.

"Racketeering is a concept that deserves some attention. Gaming information systems in a very large industry known for 'intractable complexities' has assumed a now easily recognizable pattern. The high-tech version of an old method. We have discussed here the platform of choice for such activity."

To have an operative close to the inside, a mixed blessing. The danger of violence a possibility. But the flow of valuable leads, priceless. Resources held accountable from on high mitigating her presence beyond the front.

"Speaking of patterns, a famous writer in the Rose City has had much to say in print about the dark side of a bright 'town' that the log has discussed in indirect detail.

"Both stories cannot occupy the same reality space. It is why we investigate - to discover the relevant truth.

The effects of drama can be fleeting if not carefully crafted. "Folks relying on deceptive storytelling are easily overwhelmed. Transparency reveals incompatible fabrications. Wise detectives at every scale know this, and put the knowledge to good use."

Critical disclosure did not happen. Once again, things are not as they appear. High visibility reduces the chance thugs will prevail. Their methodology fears light.

"The important thing to know is that the message is NOT a riddle. Dynamic indexing makes it so. Don't forget HI (human interface). We often don't know what we don't know ... consciously."

The outgoing message took the usual time to prepare. Most systems are vulnerable at some point in time because they are formulaic. Their method, on the other hand, relied on a network honed over many lifetimes. The code, the best currently known is far more capable than anything artificial.

"Does one have the right to record video in one's own home? Of course. What if the subject of the recording is a person invited in on basis of pretense? Even further justification. The new technology is the truth machine (for everyone) of our time , some would argue, me among them."

How much longer will hearsay drive the motivation to take a risk in light of this new development?

Unknown to Whom?

"When 'what information and who' are the top level questions?"

"Yes. Network topology can be designed to support many applications of the type we are discussing. Where there is a strong incentive for nodes and groups of nodes to deploy deception for a separate and conflicting agenda, this is the layer where it is likely show up. The higher the level, the more critical non-truth is to the mission of the entity."

The car make and color does not identify its owner. The license plate, maybe. Custom plates made to look like non-custom, a special case.

There is no lack of relevant information in a community with the lights on. Electronic or not. Empirical methods are effective at ferreting out misinformation when there is sufficient data. Often the case in these times of unprecedented connectivity.

Less to remember in the world of truth telling.

After Midnight

"Five decades later and so many things are the same. The names have changed and even some of the genders reversed. The patterns though … amazing. Shakespeare got a lot of it right. No wonder his work endures."

Strong feelings about specific laptops. What does it mean, if anything? And the expert actually used a somewhat familiar phrase in this context, 'you are over analyzing'. With so little specific information how could she/he know?

Emotions about clues revealed are, at the very least, yellow flags. Are they not? And strong feelings coming from an expert who does not yet know the context? Likely an inadvertent distraction. And a small probability of another clue. Wouldn't questions at the beginning about the unique circumstances of the individual situation be more appropriate than broad statements without context?

The regulations, though well-intentioned can have unintended consequences of considerable import.
Like the invention of the lie, there is exaggeration to stir the pot. 'Overwhelmed', a common description.

The days of blaming the token alpha male for the rain are over. No more Mr. Nice Guy. The 'Secrets Rule' rule is history.

Money is not worth what the middle class is paying for it. Further, gold is going to have to find new prey. Get over it.

"Out here, I cannot be sure who to trust. One or more of what I considered white hats may be wondering too. We can both guess what the advantage is to our competition."

She managed a chuckle. It was not heart felt. Anonymous third parties, grey hats and the risk he was taking were top-of-mind for her. Even without those, great urgency attended the events reported in January.
