The Letter

Different (smart).
"I am thinking two basic parts:

"Private - she can choose whether and with whom to share. Public - something the author discloses to  anyone with an interest in the subject matter." As he spoke he was aware that the other gender might express things differently even if they were in general agreement. It would be welcome input, indeed."

The tone of the question matched its gravity, "Lowest common denominator - expert denial?" Persuasion, often to the exclusion of accuracy or completeness, dominated recent exchanges. Hardly a prescription for consensus building.

That is where the public part comes into play. Open invites scrutiny and can be in lieu of self deception. Higher with less chance for complication. Call it flop if you will. Funny name for a standard though.
