Electric Forest

"Think of it as workstations in the sticks. The idea is to 'design green' surrounded by nature's sustainable green with as small a human 'footprint' as possible. Bandwidth, a small source of power and just enough else to live. Each workstation operator shares her/his time between living in a progressively earth friendly way and using state-of-the-art tools to make better designs based on that principle."

With this simple of the cuff description, Electric Forest would be born. The idea had been brewing in his mind's eye for decades. Though he would share it from time to time over the years, usually with one open-minded friend at a time, it remained a personal pipe dream of no particular consequence.

It is now quite apparent to many that his vision was not unique. It was in-the-soup so to speak. It only became obvious when a critical mass of its elements were shared. The pace of sharing has accelerated dramatically (as we discuss frequently here).

"Central to this theme is the idea of an identity amplifier in your pocket. Call it a phone if you must, but it is much more and as they say, 'You ain't seen nothin' yet.'"
